bonedo reviews the KA-303 acid synthesizer

Kreuzberg Audio KA-303 Acid-Synthesizer im bonedo Test, vier von fünf Sternen

Short, but we couldn't be happier: bonedo took a close look at our KA-303 acid synthesizer and gave it a thorough test. For us, a small audio-plugin shop from Berlin, that's a great moment — especially when an established German music magazine picks up the review.

The verdict speaks for itself: four out of five stars and the judgement "a convincing TB-303 clone". You can read the full review here: bonedo.de/artikel/kreuzberg-audio-ka-303-test

What won bonedo over

We were especially pleased that Matthias Sauer praised not only the sound, but above all the Composing Engine as the KA-303's secret strength. That is exactly the part we had the most fun building: the sequencer with up to 64 steps, accent and slide, plus the Scramble and Mutate controls that keep conjuring fresh acid lines out of thin air. Great to see it comes across that way in testing, too.

The Angel Fish Mod, our homage to the legendary Devil Fish mod of the original 303, and the value for money at 69 euros also scored points. And yes — we are taking the one criticism about the handful of sound presets on board; more of them are on the list.

The scores at a glance

  • Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
  • Verdict: "a convincing TB-303 clone"
  • Secret strength: the Composing Engine
  • Price: 69 €

A big thank-you to Matthias Sauer for the thorough test, the ten audio demos and the time he invested. And of course to the whole bonedo team for the coverage.

If you fancy diving into the acid world yourself, you'll find the KA-303 in our shop:

Cheers,
Frank
