The German production magazine Loop Rituals took a close look at the KA-303, and we could not be happier with the result. Reviewer Boris Alexander gives our first full acid synthesizer 4.5 out of 5.0 and a clear recommendation.

What the reviewer liked
The KA-303 is described as a convincing take on the TB-303, easy to handle and delivering an authentic, punchy acid sound. The review highlights the extras that go beyond the original: the morphable waveform between saw and square, the clever distortion section with its pre-distortion crossover, and the Angel Fish mode inspired by the famous Devil Fish mod. At its core sits a detailed component-level emulation of the original diode ladder filter, not a generic model.
The Composing Engine gets a lot of love too. The reviewer points out how quickly you can build acid patterns with accent and slide, in a focused and creative way rather than relying on pure randomizers. Finished lines drag and drop straight into your DAW, and MIDI import and export are on board as well.
A nice quote from the verdict: the KA-303 “really comes alive once you push it through the distortion.”
The scores at a glance
- Overall: 4.5 out of 5.0
- Quality: 4.5 out of 5.0
- Sound: 4.5 out of 5.0
- Value for money: 4.5 out of 5.0
The one piece of criticism is fair, and we are taking it on board: only a handful of sound presets ship with it right now. More are on the way.
